About the Presenters

Anne M. Coffman, PT, MS, GCS

Anne Coffman, MS, PT, GCS is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and has been working in a geriatric rehabilitation setting since 1992 in a variety of positions, including director of physical therapy, clinical consultant, and area manager. Anne earned a Master's degree in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Research and Measurement from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has been Board Certified in Geriatrics since 1998.

Anne serves as the Treasurer for the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association. As a Director for the Section on Geriatrics of APTA, she is responsible for the areas of reimbursement and legislation. She also serves as Program Chair for the Section on Geriatrics. Anne is on the Editorial Board of Geri-notes (the section on geriatrics newsletter) and is the author of many published articles. She is actively involved as a reviewer of insurance claims and serves on the Utilization Review committee for the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association (WPTA). Anne has taught seminars on documentation to therapists in many states and also serves as adjunct faculty at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, teaching Medicare requirements and documentation to the geriatric doctoral students.

Cindy Erb, MSH, OTR

Cindy is a well-known, dynamic speaker, committed to quality education and advanced clinical skills in occupational Therapy. Cindy was a COTA, became an OTR and has her Master's Degree in Health Services Administration. She is certified in Neuro-Developmental Treatmen (NDT) (Bobath) (Adult Hemiplegia). Cindy is currently the Director of Therapy Services at St Paul Elder Services, in Kaukauna, WI.

Lisa Heisler, OTR

Ms. Heisler is the founder of Guardian Angels Consulting Services, LLC. Ms Heisler received her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She received her AA in Nursing/Psychology from Alverno College. Emphasizing in geriatrics, Ms Heisler has practiced in a number of settings including acute care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home health, transitional and long-term care programs. She has experience not only as a clinician but as a manager and director of interdisciplinary programs on a local and regional basis. She is a member of: the Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Association where she has held office of Vice President of Practice, the American Occupational Therapy Association, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, Wisconsin Coalition of Aging Groups, Alumni of Pi Theta Epsilon (national honor society), American Society on Aging, and the American Civil Liberties Union. Ms Heisler has provided training programs at state and national levels, including having been selected by the National Council on Aging for the past two years to provide training programs at their national conventions. Ms Heisler received her CAPS certification from the National Home Builder's Association in 2004, and from the Alzheimer's Association, her credential as a Certified Dementia Care Specialist in 2006. She is currently working toward a national board certification in Geriatrics.

Donna Markowski, RN

Donna brings over 30 years of clinical and managerial experience to share with her audience. Her clinical experience ranges from ICU, medical-surgical and recovery room nursing to oncology case management and wound care consultant and chairperson. Donna has managed an acute care rehabilitation unit and has also administered Quality Assurance programs. Currently, Donna serves as the MDS coordinator of a 168 bed SNF, using her nursing expertise to coordinate comprehensive resident assessments. Donna is a resident advocate and supports therapy services. She possesses the ability to effectively promote the integration of therapy and nursing services to maximize quality care and quality life for those persons she encounters.

Cherie Wadle, MS CCC-SLP

Ms. Wadle received her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Wisconsin – Steven’s Point. She has been a Speech Language Pathologist for over 23 years, with experience in pediatrics, out patient rehabilitation, home health, acute care, as well as rehabilitation units of hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. Ms. Wadle has acted as clinician, local and regional throughout her tenure as a Speech Language Pathologist. She is a member of the Wisconsin Speech Language and Hearing Association and the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.

Deanne Weier, RN

Deanne’s diverse experience includes providing community based services and care with children, the developmentally disabled and the elderly as well as long term care. Deanne’s experience in long term care includes working as a floor nurse as well as a charge nurse. She has held various supervisory positions including her current role as an MDS coordinator and care plan coordinator. These positions have enabled her to use her skills in identifying and advocating an interdisciplinary approach to long term care. Other administrative functions Deanne executes includes the implementation of HIPAA compliance guidelines, the provision of various staff education and training programs and the development and upgrading of policies affecting client care. Deanne’s enthusiasm to facilitate a collaborative approach in patient care have made her a great therapy advocate.
